The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) seeks to recruit a full time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the charity through an exciting development phase and become more sustainable for the future.

The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) will host online yoga classes at 11am every Friday for 6-weeks with ILFA Patron and yogi Michael Darragh Macauley. Classes will start on Friday 6th October at 11am.

The classes will consist of breath work and gentle exercise and poses. Classes are free for all ILFA members to join.

ILFA will host an online “Let’s talk entitlements” meeting on Tuesday 10 October at 2pm with Helen Ryan, Respiratory Advanced Nurse Practitoner at Galway University Hospital. If you have any questions, they can be submitted in advance of the meeting.

Irish Lung Fibrosis Association – Call for Expressions of Interest

The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) is now accepting Expression of Interest applications for the current round of the Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI) – Health Research Board (HRB) Joint Funding Scheme 2023/2024.

Opening date for Expressions of Interest: 6th September 2023
Closing date for Expressions of Interest: 29th September 2023
Closing date for submission of full applications: 3rd November 2023

Shortlisted expression of interest applications will be invited to submit a full application. The submission deadline for full applications will be 3rd November 2023.

Budget and project duration: Up to €100,000 (projects with a lower budget are welcome and will be favourably considered) for proposals delivering outcomes at or within 24 months.

Project summary
- Title (maximum 20 words)
- Expected duration including calendar dates (month-year): planned start date 0f active project or data acquisition, planned end date of active phase or data acquisition, planned date of final report including completion of statistical analysis, if any
- Background (maximum 100 words)
- Relevance to mission of ILFA (maximum 100 words)
- Planned patient and public involvement (maximim 100 words)
- Description of proposed research project (maximum 200 words, plus 2 diagrams/tables)
- Expected budget including VAT – equipment, personnel, services required (e.g. randomisation), other (including conference participation)

Irish Lung Fibrosis Association

The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association welcomes expressions of interest that are in line with its mission and that deliver impactful outcomes for pulmonary fibrosis with respect to ILFA’s core pillars of research, education, support, and advocacy.

Projects including research on basic science, clinical research, behavioural sciences, epidemiology, treatment pathways, health economics, and patient-reported outcomes relevant to pulmonary fibrosis will be considered.

The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) is pleased to announce three educational bursaries for healthcare professionals to attend the Interstitial Lung Disease Interdisciplinary Network Annual Conference in Birmingham on 8-9th October 2023.

The 2023 ILFA Ecumenical Service of Prayer and Reflection will take place on Saturday 14th October at St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street at 3pm. All are welcome.

During the service, we will remember those who have been lost to lung fibrosis with the lighting of candles.
