European Respiratory Society Congress Educational Bursaries 2023

The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) is delighted to announce three educational bursaries for respiratory nurses, allied healthcare professionals, researchers, PhD students, and post-doctoral students in Ireland to attend the 2023 European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress in Milan in Italy from 9–13th September 2023.
The ERS Congress is an annual event that brings together the world’s respiratory experts to showcase all the latest advances in respiratory medicine and science.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Training Bursaries

ILFA is delighted to offer another round of educationalBlocks with the letters "CBT" bursaries to respiratory healthcare professionals working with lung fibrosis patients to study Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) online.
The next course will commence in May 2023.

Closing date Thursday 20th April.
ILFA’s 2000 Steps Extra Challenge will take place on Easter Monday 10th April.
We’re asking everyone to go for a walk or run from your home and commit to take 2000 steps extra (one mile more) to help raise awareness of lung fibrosis and funds for ILFA.

If you would like to take part in the ILFA 2000 Steps Extra Challenge on Easter Monday, you can register by emailing info@ilfa.ie for your neck warmer and poster.

Remember to send us a photo of your virtual walk so we can share images and raise awareness.

The Dublin Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group will meet again face-to-face after a long break due to the pandemic. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday 4th April from 11am-12pn at the Community Centre, Whitefriar Street Church, Aungier Street, Dublin2.
The time and date of subsequent meetings is to be confirmed. All are welcome.

ILFA Patient Information Day

The next Patient Information Day from the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association will take place on 25th March at 11am via Zoom. We hope you will join us to learn more about lung fibrosis. All are welcome.

• Dr Roisin Cahalan, Lecturer in Respiratory and Cardiovascular Physiotherapy in the School of Allied Health in the Faculty of Education and Health Sciences at University of Limerick
• Dr Anne Marie Russell, Senior Lecturer at University of Exeter Medical School.

Sandra Murphy, Clinical Specialist Dietitian at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, will take part in ILFA’s “Let’s Talk Nutrition for Lung Fibrosis” on Friday 31 March 2023 @ 12pm via Zoom. Lynn Fox, Respiratory Advance Nurse Practitioner at the Mater Miserericordiae University Hospital, will take part in ILFA’s “Let’s Talk Medication” session on Monday 27th February at 2pm. All are welcome to this online event that will take place via Zoom. Please register at info@ilfa.ie or call 086 871 5264.
Questions on medication can be submitted in advance.

ILFA’s online, award winning exercise classes for lung fibrosis patients take place every week and are free of charge to members.
Classes are led by Eimear Bell, respiratory physiotherapist and take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday via Zoom.
